Arc & Odyssey - EP
Arc & Odyssey
My arc arrived
Blazing in the bed of night
Believed, denied
A needle in the addict’s eye
The watchman’s decree
Carried on the passing breeze
And ashen sea
Peddling the cause to me
What manner of dream
Conjures such a tragic scene
And waits for all to see
The love that cries beneath?
For no wiser are we
Brandishing the haggard plead
Of who we ought to be
Before the fire’s brazen odyssey
Summa Iniuria
In a town of old foundations
I resume my day to day
But I fear a phantom wanting
What is mine to burn away
Though our reasons will be plenty
I behold the broken seam
Of that atlas in the corner
And it wears at me, wears at me
Summa Iniuria
When the oceans are all empty
Will the raiders of my sleep
Hang around and stalk the barren deep
The wakeful chime of ardour
Played me like a fool
And mocks me now from yonder’s wild youth
The fire wasn’t me
But I did sow its ruin
Holding out for its boon
The anchor of my mind
The all I mustn’t lose
Is floating now to you
I presume you know that maiden
Upon the veiler’s prow
Woven now within the sound
What martyr do you carry
To cast the shadows long
And break the world within the song
2. Silent Company
I see the meadow walker
Bound for the remedy
Down in the waters waiting
Sounding the levity
She's not liberated by the common glee
She's not liberated easily
Was your world the heavy hue of all you'd been
When they found your place in history
What's a maiden-mother-daughter meant to be
To disagree
In the silent company
I lead the meditations
Roaming the cavity
Finding the revelations
Left on the muddied leaves
She's not liberated by the country scene
She's not liberated easily
Was your world the heavy hue of all you'd been
When they found your place in history
What's a maiden-mother-daughter meant to be
To disagree
In the silent company
Lean back
No you weren't supposed to feel that
Weight upon your mind
(If I could climb back I wouldn't mind that
I've said it for you, climb back
They wouldn't mind that
I said it for you way back
No you weren't supposed to feel that weight upon your mind)
Lean back, no you weren't supposed to feel that way
3. The Orphan
Here’s my orphan
Here’s his candle
Here’s that queue to catch his flame
So I strain and dash to honour
All the ashes in his name
What’s that looming on the surface?
Is that something I hold dear?
Was it obvious to someone
With the passing years?
Old salvations hound their callers
Treat my wounds and praise my guise
Clear my acres of translucence
Plead to halt the wailer’s cries
Oh my army has manoeuvred
To incur a lasting ban
Uninsightful of the ruin
In a master plan
In my anger I fear losing
I invite a blinding goal
I embody some resistance
And exchange it for my soul
What’s that luminous incision?
Is it obvious to me?
Has it always been?
4. Arthur
Ladies and cynicals
Lay down your miracle wine
I know what I’m asking
When you planned to be drinking all night
The moment’s now passing
The gentleman’s already crying
Would you laugh if I told you
His tears are exactly on time?
I’ll be quick with this riot
This flurrying fire of words
My honest intention is not to say something absurd
Turn to your left
Loosen your ties and your curls
And then posit the question
Whose hand will you favour here first?
See I’ve been a’ thinking
The kingdom is sleeping around
The silence is sinking
Busy resisting the doubt
When that dove up on high
Casts a long shadowy spill
A man might mistake his own shadow
For that on the hill
I see this crowded room
Cannot remove
Where the devil is
The deal is ousting you
Take my cup
Name my number
Save your lies for the bitter end
Weigh my heart
From your slumber
Raise your eyes from the dividends
What is honour?
What is guilt?
What is shame among our ilk?
Is it honest?
Is it built?
Is it worn to bat our ills?
Inner judgement
Doesn’t kill
But impounds the wounding still
The muddied waters
Cannot fill
The sullen grail of sovereign will
It is colder
In the hills
5. Pyres
What is lost in your answering
Of a question we’ve wallowed in
Over distance and vital rules
Un-existing all our lives?
That’s the chatter of my youth
Many pyres upon the proof
What is fire if not the truth
You’d tell me all the time
And without meaning to be seen
You did whisper your thoughts between
Every wall of your fantasy
We’re now setting all aside
It doesn’t matter if it’s real
Through the might of its mass appeal
The mere account of the way I feel
Made it all alive
And so I offer nothing new
But an idol of former view
It is fabled not followed through
However we deny
The inner light of all implying
Will never be removed
But lay entirely out of view
To the arrow of our Robin Hood
What never dies, never sleeps
Never wounds, never bleeds
It is harboured without reach
Unavowed liberty
But then nothing of what I speak
What is lost in your answering
Of your dated imaginings?
Is it not even happening?
From what I hear
The thought is burning clear
